Brief introduction of the tool

A Wiki is a web page where students come together and have a sort of brainstorming session online. In other words, a Wiki is one huge dry erase board of ideas organized on one web page.

  • Advantages of the tool

It gets rid of the clutter and disorganization of emails between groups of people. Everyone's work and ideas are on one page. This makes the tool both efficient and effective. As you add to the Wiki page everything added can have its own folder and category.

  • Disadvantages (limitations) of the tool

Only one person can edit the Wiki page at a time.

Application of the tool in your subject area

Students can use this to brainstorm ideas while doing projects and research on different composers, pieces of music, or other Music Ed projects. As a teacher, you can look at how the students interact with each other and how they come up with ideas. It will also be an easy way for the students to turn their projects and homework in, which will also make it easier for teachers to grade.

Students can use this to brainstorm ideas while doing Spanish projects as well. Again, it will be easy for the teacher to grade and for the students to turn in. It will also be a good way for students to keep track of their work.
